The responsibility of the Senior Merchant Success Manager is to own and accelerate sales growth by managing a select group of merchants selling on the Rakuten.com Marketplace. You will need to thrive and deliver results in an ambiguous, and fast-paced business environment, operating across multiple teams including marketing, customer service and technology groups. You will also take on larger strategic projects and initiatives to help further drive and grow the business.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Merchant Success Associates. Provide positive leadership and development

  • Manage portfolio of Growth & Development Merchants to maintain strong relationships, grow

    individual businesses and provide marketing exposure in site campaigns

  • Strategically analyze and apply data to make actionable recommendations based on sales,

    forecasts, conversion, promotions, seasonality, and marketing channel performance

  • Advise Merchants on how to best develop their business on our marketplace, using proprietary

    reporting and marketing tools

  • Develop a strong understanding of the products in the portfolio and recommend content ideas

    for onsite campaigns and emails that brings out Merchants breadth in assortment

  • Conduct regular analysis on issues affecting merchant performance and build solutions

  • Facilitate Merchant participation in promotions and advertising on Rakuten.com 








  • Occasional web-site management via in house content management and product management

    tools also required along with technical trouble shooting to correct content or feed errors

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year College or University 


  • 4-6 years of related experience in eCommerce, Marketplace, Account Management experience

  • Retail/eCommerce industry experience and product knowledge along with a high level of

    awareness and interest in trends

  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically with excellent attention to detail

  • Capacity to make important decisions, cope with the pressure of meeting demanding targets

    and working within tight deadlines

  • High level problem solving skills and research/ analytical ability including the ability to obtain

    and interpret information and make specific recommendations under minimal supervision

  • Smart, creative, humble, hungry, funny, and nice. You should be a competitive, self-motivated

    individual with a strong desire to win

  • Solid proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Experience editing (HTML) and publishing content via Content Management Systems
