At Rakuten the Human Resources (HR) organization drives business outcomes from strategy to execution. We need a team player with a passion for innovation and the desire to partner with a business to achieve outstanding results. We operate as one HR team to support our employee base. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and thoughtful leader with a transparent and collaborative who is proactive. The right person for this role must have excellent execution skills to carry-out corporate-wide initiatives. The HR Generalist works with the Human Resources Business Partner  and Shared Services Center (SSC) to execute enterprise-wide programs and initiatives. 


The Day-to-Day:
• Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.

• This role partners with the HRBP and the client groups assigned to provide outstanding HR leadership.

• On-Boarding and Off-boarding: leads New Employee Orientation, coordinates onboarding for new hires from welcome to start, including onboarding schedules, weekly new hire sessions, administering onboarding and offboarding tasks, and collecting I-9 documents and provide follow-up support to new hires.

• First point of contact for HR/Workday inquiries for designated client group.

• Provide a high-level of support to employees by responding to people questions, issues and needs and escalating when necessary.

• Input employee information in Workday. Manage all employee changes and updates in the systems.  Runs reports from Workday.

• Create/manage information within HRIS of existing employees, transfers, terminations, supervisor changes, title changes, increases, promotions, severances etc.

• Partners with Head of Mobility to assist employees on all immigration matters.

• Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

• Participate in and/or lead specific projects, as assigned

Here’s what you need to have:
• Experienced. You’ve done this before.  Workday experience preferred.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail

•  Must have a high level of professionalism and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

• Ability to leverage communication and interpersonal skills to successfully establish and maintain professional relationships and work effectively with all levels of management.

• Technically minded - You use Excel sheets and Powerpoint with the greatest of ease. You’re also proficient in tools that help eliminate manual steps from HR processes by automating and integrating to ensure greater operational efficiency.

•  User focused. You see solutions where others see problems. You are always looking for ways to make improvements and continuously simplify the employee experience.

•  You have a global mind-set. You are holistic in your approach and think of both site level needs, as well as global technology needs.

•  Computer software applications expertise – High proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, experience navigating within databases) as well as Google Suit.

•  Outstanding writing, communication, and editing skills

• Basic ability to perform data modeling and define data entities and attributes

• Can facilitate data requests for non-complex applications

• Solid project management experience, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously

• Good understanding of best practices in HR and the ability to apply them as needed

• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work successfully across a large organization

• Credibility – the ability to gain trust and preserve confidentiality


We’re excited about you if you have:
• Previous employee relations experience preferred.
• A bachelor's degree in HR or equivalent.
• PHR credential a plus

• 3-5 years of Human Resources experience (preferably in a technology environment)

• Experience in working in a collaborative environment; high level of follow through and accountability.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills; proactive communicator able to influence and encourage innovation.

• High-level attention to detail with ability to manage workload with shifting priorities.

• Quick learner; patient, comfortable with ambiguity and a willingness to take initiative.

• Strong problem-solver with the ability to handle sensitive/confidential information.

• Working and practical knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational design, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint) and Microsoft Outlook. Should be proficient and comfortable working with spreadsheets and data, ensuring data integrity and accuracy is maintained when working with Excel spreadsheets.  Workday HRIS is preferred.
