Rakuten Global Ad Business Division Inventory Development Analyst will be accountable for supporting Inventory Development Head to acquire new Media inventory to Rakuten Global Ad Business, strategically align Media recruitment efforts with Advertisers needs, and manage the relationship of internal and external Media.

Inventory Development Analyst will work alongside Operation Team, Sales team and Product team; with an additional communication line to the Inventory Development team in Japan.

Rakuten Global Ad Business Division Inventory Development Analyst is responsible for following two areas mainly:

Research and analysis on Rakuten consumer facing properties, working with Rakuten group Company Ad Officers to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of the performance of the property
  • Understand the demographics of the audience
  • Understand acquisition costs and LTV
  • Audit of current advertising efforts, current ad partner landscape/tech providers
  • High level requirements/needs/user cases
  • Understand operational requirements
  • Overview of data and inventory assets, including valuation
  • Opportunity heat map (including short-term monetization plan)

Identify new advertising opportunities for Rakuten group companies:

  • Identify opportunities to improve existing ad performance
  • Identify opportunities to create incremental ad units and ad revenue streams
  • Review (Advertiser & Agency) target audience & sales by channel (direct, agency, partner) – next 3 years
  • Consolidate suppliers to improve reach and performance (reduce costs)
  • Review potential products for existing B2B customers, through existing sales and service teams

  • Short term revenue plan for current and new monetization opportunities
  • 2019 growth plan for Global Ad Business
  • Strategic plan for supplier consolidation & improved commercials & performance
  • New products for existing B2B sales teams
  • 3 year commercial strategy for ad business
  • Operational plan to support all user cases

  • Work in an aggressive team environment and work collaboratively to put together business solutions specific for each client
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver proposals in a highly competitive business development  environment while providing exceptional client service including client entertaining when needed
  • Ability to negotiate and effectively persuade potential clients.
  • Coach/encourage teammates when needed and help with presenting demos and proposals
  • Define success of campaign with client and KPIs for measurements
  • Be integral to integrate Internal and External Media
  • Travel as needed for conferences, symposiums and on-site meetings with clients


  • College degree or equivalent
  • Proficient with Salesforce, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to be an outstanding team player
  • Self-motivated, independent, and high-performance individual, with ability to learn and become productive extremely fast
  • 2+ years of experience in the online media and advertising industries
  • Experience in Business Development in data driven advertising products is a must
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and Media business models
  • Superb relationship building skills and ability to show value to clients
  • Ability to travel from 30%-40% depending on project status
