The Role:

Rakuten Kobo Inc. is looking for a Training & Development Specialist to join our Employee Experience team! The team is comprised of talented and enthusiastic individuals who work hard to shape an environment that fosters professional development and employee satisfaction.

Reporting to the Vice President of HR, the Training & Development Specialist will work closely with members of the Employee Experience team, leaders, employees and other Rakuten Talent Development Leads to support and develop programs that enhance organizational learning and development.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the design and implementation of leadership development programs and initiatives to support current leaders and future leaders within the organization
  • Guides the design and delivery of learning and development programs to address organizational needs and ensure our talented people continue to learn and develop
  • Executes learning and development strategies utilizing a blended approach of formal classroom learning, online, coaching, assessment, mentoring, and on-the-job development
  • Consults with departments / leaders to diagnose team dynamics upon request; develops and implements suitable interventions through thorough analysis to enhance team functioning and productivity
  • Conducts formal training needs analysis, training plan design, development and implementation of learning programs to help take the organization and our people to the next level 
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of learning programs and resolves identified issues or concerns while measuring and evaluating positive impact 
  • Facilitates a number of training sessions such as new hire orientation, team building, lunch and learns, and leadership development
  • Promotes and reviews performance management process while creating a culture of accountability and continuous development
  • Maintains and promotes effective change management practices to build resilient and change adept teams
  • Develops an annual training calendar and works within operating budget to support organizational development initiatives
  • Ensures all training programs meet new or changing compliance legislation
  • Supports employee engagement programs and initiatives
  • Promotes a positive work culture; acts as a change agent and assumes a leadership role as our “Shugi” expert 

 

The Skillset:

Required:

·      A Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field; Master’s Degree preferred

·      4+ years experience managing engagement, learning, talent and culture

·      Experience designing, developing, implementing, assessing and leading organization-wide learning and development initiatives

·      Leadership skills with emphasis on communication and change management

·      Excellent facilitation skills, with demonstrated self-confidence and an ability to adapt content and conversations to meet the needs of your audience.

·      Experience with adult learning principles, instructional design techniques, online learning, assessments, and evaluation methodologies

·      Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate well with staff at all levels within the organization

·      Proven project management skills with experience managing large scale organizational-wide projects

·      Strong communication, coaching and presentation skills

 

Nice to Haves:

·      CTP, CTDP, and/or an HR Professional designation

·      Certification in PPA/DISC Profile Assessments

·      Experience with Workday HRMS

·      Ability to travel internationally as needed (i.e. US, EU, Japan)

·      Experience working in a Global Organization
