Job Description

 

Exceptional opportunity!  We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join the Ebates team and help establish a new process for innovation around a creative and dynamic team.

 

You are a broad thinker, entrepreneurial, and able to assess the fit between business needs and products.  You probably read a lot about products in different areas and think about business issues and consumer products a lot.  You almost certainly download apps regularly to try them out, visit new websites to see design patterns, and read about different areas where technology is solving big problems – machine learning, chat, visual search, geolocation, marketing technologies and so on.  You’re creative and scrappy – like to figure out what would make a good MVP or POC to test.  You’re obsessive about metrics – what will make this successful?  Is it working?  And you’re attached to the process of trying and finding wins, as opposed to fighting out long battles to make a product work.  You’re comfortable that even with best efforts, tests fail and the important thing is to learn and grow.   

 

Success in this role is getting some of the POC’s to grow, and move into a core product team for longer term adoption/growth.  And making sure the business owners understand when things don’t work – the effort and the metrics. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Manage a growing pipeline of request for projects, being able to relate them to the overall company strategy and priorities.  Work well across departments. 

• Develop interesting proposals that have impact potential.

         o Creatively assess the projects with the business stakeholders, clarifying the business case,              and developing metrics.  Have a vision for how it could develop over time.

         o Assess the projects with the engineering team, for sizing/scoping, feasibility analysis

         o Work with a steering group to help separate wheat from chaff, and move some ideas                        directly in to other product roadmaps.

• For selected projects, create requirements with stakeholder and engineering process.  This may involve samples, data and work-flow diagrams, API definitions, screen mocks, etc.

• Manage projects with the engineering team via agile process  

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

      

• Bachelor’s degree or comparable real-world experience.

• 5-7 years’ experience in consumer or e-commerce product management.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Motivational leadership style. 

• Demonstrated ability to build business cases, and associated product designs.  Ensure products have core KPIs and instrumentation is completed.  You skilled in use case development, workflow design, mock-up creation.

• Experience with Agile development methodology and product roadmap development.  Ideally you know Jira. 

• Technical skills – broad knowledge; fast learning - but not necessarily deep:

         o Can quickly do high level assessment of products/technologies against needs; or read up                on new technology to learn enough to assess value, usability, suitability to task. For                          example, you can read partner API docs and use them to conceive features.

         o Conversant about broad areas of technology.
