The Role:

The Senior Financial Accountant is primarily responsible for overseeing Kobo’s financial reporting and compliance function. In particular, the successful candidate will closely work with Controller for the day-to-day functioning of the financial activities of the company including producing accurate financial records prepared in accordance with IFRS principles. The incumbent will also have various working relations internally and externally in order to properly manage our compliance requirement intact. This person will need a key sense of attention to detail, have great interpersonal skills, adapt and learn quickly, and be able to work under strict and tight deadlines. An eagerness to want to improve and drive results is expected. The role is an integral part of our operations, which makes the responsibilities crucial to the monthly planning, financial reporting, and fiscal governance.



Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and ensure compliance with financial reporting for all corporate entities and consolidation

  • Preparation and review of financial package submission to Parent company

  • Responsible for month-end closing and ensure timely closing

  • Compile and maintain month-end checklists and binders and assist other team during month end close

  • Journal Entries and Critical Reconciliations is key component of this role

  • Work closely with external auditors to provide information and clarification during internal and external audits and complete the statutory reporting

  • Prepare, review and oversee our global Sales & Use Tax filing and reporting requirements

  • Lead and maintain global transfer pricing compliance (including the preparation of transfer pricing documentation, or any other reporting requirements)

  • Inter and Intra company management including relationship, accruals, payments, control of Balances

  • Assess company's exposure to Permeant establishment (PE) and work with Controller to implement a process to mitigate the risk

  • Various ad hoc projects



The Skillset:


Qualifications:

  • Candidates should be passionate, energetic and very detailed oriented

  • Post-secondary degree in accounting, finance or equivalent preferred

  • CPA designation or equivalent is required

  • Experience in a financial accounting or assurance role is required

  • Firm experience is considered an asset

  • Comfort and ability to lead complex accounting and tax matters and provide recommendations with sound logic and support

  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders with the utmost professionalism

  • 3+ years relevant experience required

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to set, manage and deliver on expectations to upper management

  • Outstanding organizational skills

  • Personable, team player with a “can do” attitude
