Sales Analyst

The Role: 

Reporting to the Sr. Mgr. Global Supply Chain, the Sales Analyst role requires a team oriented, analytical, & interpretive individual with strong data base and communication skills. This position involves in depth analysis of retail sales results, identifying market trends as well as a solid understanding of consumer demand and sales forecasting process. It also entails working and communicating with multiple internal stake holders as well as with external retailers. The candidate will be a key contributor to the Kobo and tolino teams.

The Person:

POS Analysis

  • Prepare and analyze weekly retail sales results to determine impact on account forecasts
  • Identify Market Trends by item and category for customer
  • Includes New Item, License, Retail Price, Ad and Media Analysis
  • Evaluate what impact an account’s advertising program has on their retail sales
  • Analyze customer sales and inventory information to identify sales opportunities  
  • Evaluate Inventory at retail including in stocks, weeks of supply with recommendations for improvement
  • Weekly and YTD Defective analysis

Demand Forecasting

  • Ensure Forecasts are accurate and in line with what is happening at retail
  • Evaluate and measure actual forecast performance against objectives/plan
  • Collaborating with partner managers to understand market trends and align forecasts accordingly
  • Track and analyze account advertising plans and results to determine impact on account forecast
  • Must understand supply chain and demand planning
  • Monthly Gap analysis is required as well as push for orders within required lead times
  • Ladder plan updates used to ensure forecasts are in line with POS at Retail

System Creation and Maintenance

  • Produce OS Retail Sales Reports and Analysis on a weekly basis
  • Produce Actual vs. Forecasts and Gap reports monthly
  • Ladder Plan update
  • Produce Allocations Report to assist in decision marking for senior management
  • On a seasonal basis create Year over Year Reports
  • Entering and updating of forecasts in ERP system, including item # changes

  1. Roll forward unused forecasts and weekly rollout of forecasts
  2. Weekly competitive pricing reporting and analysis
  3. Locked forecast analysis and forecast accuracy

Process & System Improvement

  • Continual monitoring and review of sales and business systems/processes to assist in improvement/new initiatives to address those issues affecting the Sales Analyst Team
  • Provide administrative and analytics support for analysis team during key cross-functional monthly meetings
  • Reverse Logistics tracking and monitoring

Constructive and Supportive interaction with Kobo and Retailer

  • Collaborate with sales on results at retail and corresponding required forecast changes
  • Keep planning in the loop on any required forecast changes to ensure changed demand can be met or excess will be used
  • Liaise with external retailer counterparts on supply chain related inquiries

The Skillset:

  • Excellent communication skills: strength in influencing sr. management decisions & engaging with sales managers 
  • 3 -5 years of experience
  • Post Secondary education majoring in business
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, & problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of consumer demand and sales forecasting processes: POS Data analysis & forecasting experience a must
  • Experience analyzing sales reports for retail or CPG Company a must
  • Strong Computer skills with a high level of proficiency in MS Office with a focus in spreadsheet (advanced excel) /data base applications
  • Creative thinker with ability to communicate and present ideas
  •  A great personality and a deep desire to dabble with numbers is a must
  • Proven analytical and root-cause analysis abilities are essential
