Rakuten TV is offering a fantastic opportunity in our Barcelona HQ for a highly talented/motivated international graduate looking to accelerate their marketing careers.


Company Overview

Rakuten TV - “Your cinema at home” - is one of the leading Video-On- Demand platforms in Europe providing the latest movie releases with the latest technology in a true cinematic experience available on Smart TVs. Rakuten TV is currently distributed in 12 countries and is part of the Internet and e-commerce Japanese giant Rakuten, now sponsor of FC Barcelona, The Golden State Warriors and Shakira’s El Dorado Tour.


This 1-year graduate program involves 3 four-month rotations across 3 out of 4 key areas in online marketing & content.


It combines hands on practical experience with an intensive training & certification program. The successful candidate will receive close support from managers and experts in the team but will be highly motivated and expected to study, develop knowledge & take certification exams outside of work hours.


At the end of the program, depending on performance there may the opportunity for a permanent role in the company.


1. Performance Marketing & Partnerships


Media Planning & Marketing Channels

Objective: Test & optimize new on-platform marketing channels inc;

  • Media Planning (ensuring the best content, weighting, testing etc)
  • Devices Advertising: Smart TVs & Consoles video and banner advertising
  • Preroll (specifically YouTube) campaigns
  • In-app notifications
  • Developing a testing Plan to improve performance.


Customer Journey Optimization

Objective: Develop the best, most relevant easiest onboarding journey for a customer (A/B tested to improve performance)


Work with internal product & design teams to implement A/B testing plan to improve the performance (conversion rate) of our marketing landing pages and make recommendations to improve the performance of our web & mobile site design.


Reporting & Analysis

Objective: understand & optimize performance

  • Gathering data from manufacturers to better understand performance (competitor share of voice, weekly/monthly SMART Hub visits, TV sales etc)
  • Reporting & monitoring CACs, visits, users, transactions to understand performance.
  • Campaign reporting: impression monitoring to ensure manufacturers are hitting impression & weighting targets.
  • Analysis: understanding which content, offers, times of day, frequency, customer journeys, creatives work best.

Partnerships support

Objective: understand and execute promotions with TV Manufacturers, through different channels as Point-of-sale and digital communications

 
  • Coordinate with partners and internal stakeholders to execute campaigns that involve approval processes and aim to maximize brand exposure and user acquisition.
  • Understand how to brief, manage and execute campaigns on a variety of channels with TV manufacturers


Training & Certification

The candidate will be expected to complete the Google Adwords Certification (picking 2 specialties from: video/display/search/mobile/shopping).

2. eCommerce & Partnerships
  • eCommerce: Create and manage campaigns with strategic products (bundle offers) that improve the ARPU. Create and follow a sales strategy: find and analyse the  strategic product to bundle with our content, define bundle pricing, distribution and communication of the offer. Reach monthly sales targets within an specific margin across the five main markets.
  • Affiliates: Understand the principle of the affiliate Marketing. Implement affiliation campaigns and orient the optimization to achieve targets. Work with the affiliation agency. Coordinate and negotiate CPA/fixed fee campaigns with strategic affiliates. Build and consolidate and important affiliation network.
  • Partnerships & Group synergies: understand and execute promotions with Telcos and sister companies, through different channels as Point-of-sale and digital communications. Coordinate with partners and internal stakeholders to execute campaigns that involve approval processes and aim to maximize brand exposure and user acquisition

Training & Certification

The candidate will be expected to complete the Sales-Enablement Certification


3. Social Media

You will work in a team of young and enthusiastic social media experts with a direct contact to the major networks.

  • Community Management: Learn to use a community management tool to build relationships with customers, potential customers, industry professionals and journalists. Creating editorial calendars for contents across a variety of social media platforms. Learn how to use a company's tone of voice in a many-to-many contact with customers.
  • Paid Social Advertising:  Become a Power Editor Expert. Learn to plan and develop paid campaigns on social channels such as Facebook. Manage ads and measure ad performance, creating reports and suggest ideas to improve results. This includes remarketing, dynamic product ads, pixel setup and more.
  • Creative Development: Brief and develop in collaboration with our design team creatives for advertising and organic communications. Become an expert of shareable contents and gain experience on Adobe products, while creating videos and images in various formats.

Training & Certification

The candidate will be expected to complete the Facebook Blueprint certification (buying or planning professional)


4. Content Marketing

New Releases
  • Track EST and VOD revenues for the main NR of the week and keep tracking during 6 weeks after VOD release - 5 markets
  • Identify unusual trend in a title lifecycle
  • Brief design to create the assets of a New Release marketing campaign (social media & others)
  • Track sales and campaigns KPIs (impressions, reach, clicks, CTR, CVR)

Promotions
  • Selection of titles according to MG targets and revenues potential
  • Design communication plan along with Programming (on-platform + newsletter)
  • Central point of contact with Sony and NBC for promotions
  • Coordination over the MGs marketing budget

Analytics
  • Understand user behaviour: use Google analytics and OST to identify drop offs and trends
  • Draw proposals to improve the strategy based on the insights from Analytics

Requirements
  • Recent graduate from a top european university (All degrees considered but business, maths/statistics, computer science, economics, design or marketing/communications related degrees preferred)
  • Highly motivated to learn & passionate about developing a career in online marketing. This role will not be 9-5pm. The certification programme will require the candidate to study & take exams outside of work hours.
  • 6 months - 2 years online marketing experience (will consider other examples of passion for the online marketing area such as certifications or extracurricular activities)
  • Strong analytical & excel skills. Passionate about working with data, tracking trends, conducting in depth analysis & understanding performance. Ability to make actionable insights & communicate findings effectively.
  • High level of English required. Other language skills a plus, particularly German, Spanish, Italian or French.
  • Demonstrates commercial understanding in terms of budget management & delivering ROI.
  • Enthusiasm & interest in TV & film content a bonus.
