Rakuten Group has created a new role, Business Partner Total Rewards Manager, to join our global rewards team in San Mateo. In this role, you will collaborate with HR Business Partners, recruiters and business entity leaders to help drive, align and implement the company’s Total Rewards Framework within the Americas region (Canada, U.S., Central and South America). This is a client-facing role. The key deliverables are to transfer practical compensation knowledge to the HR Business Partner teams, and help HR Business Partners operationalize global total rewards programs within their assigned businesses.  


Responsibilities:

  • Builds a consultative and collaborative relationship with HR Business Partners, recruiters, business leaders on understanding and delivering Rakuten compensation programs and processes
  • Helps HR Business Partners become the key interface for all employee rewards related matters and programs – i.e., base salary practices, bonuses/commission, pay policies, allowances and long-term incentives (stock and cash)
  • Helps the HR community operationalize the design and implementation of Rakuten rewards programs, to include strategy, objectives, job leveling and rewards planning
  • Acts as compensation subject matter expert
  • Works with Corporate Global Total Rewards teams on researching best practices and trends as it relates to the assigned business, and helps HR translate these practices
  • Educates HR Business Partners on how to perform effective job analysis (i.e., Radford leveling) and internal analysis on the effectiveness and fairness of existing practices
  • Helps HR Business Partners develop materials and present to clients’ overall rewards findings and recommendations in a thoughtful and solution focused manner
  • Consults with and supports HR Business Partners in becoming the “one-stop shop” for all employee rewards related matters (e.g., ongoing job evaluations, annual cash and stock focals), total rewards communications, and creating and updating pay policies
  • Assists in systemizing the rewards planning process through Workday Advance Compensation and/or related software applications
  • Helps build and deliver compensation-related training and change management materials


 Qualifications

  • Three to Five years of related compensation experience within in a high-technology company and/or technology focused compensation consulting firm; must have some experience with corporate-level compensation design
  • Bachelors of Science degree - MBA desired
  • Expert knowledge and use of excel including v-lookups
  • Solid eye for business, and the ability to influence and develop strong working relationships with multiple partners, including leadership and peers
  • Experience in a client-facing role while working for and supporting Corporate Total Reward Groups
  • Strong change management and project management skills
  • Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, flexible, detail-oriented and deadline driven individual
  • Proven ability to partner with cross-functional teams across countries and time-zones
  • Proven analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
