Coordinator, Publisher Relations & Originals


The Role:

Rakuten Kobo Inc. is looking for a Coordinator Publisher Relations and Originals to join our Publisher Relations team! The teams work with publishers and producers to create the best possible catalog in the world.

Reporting to Director, Originals the Coordinator Publisher Relations and Originals plays a vital role in delivering new ebooks, audiobooks and podcasts.  They will be responsible for connecting and supporting various team members around the world in their work with publishers and acting as production coordinator in the Originals publishing process.


The Person:

This position helps support a number of key areas of Kobo’s catalog team. You will have your hands in a number of different projects – providing seamless coordination of multi-faceted projects that require a detail-oriented and organized individual to wrangle them! You will be an essential link between Kobo’s Originals team, the Publisher Relations team, Business Development teams, Operations, Marketing and Merchandising ¾ a jack of all trades with a knack for relationship building, and project management. In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Acting as the central touch-point for business development projects – being the voice of content from project conception to execution;
  • As a member of the catalogue team, you will play an integral role in connecting our remote teams to stakeholders at HQ on a variety of different projects and work streams;  
  • Liaising with internal and partner marketing and merchandising teams to develop 360 plans to promote and support Kobo’s Originals program;
  • Acting as a production coordinator – managing timelines and deliverables to ensure smooth launches of Original titles and strong campaign execution;
  • Developing and executing strong reporting cadences to underscore the value of the Originals program to internal teams and to publishers.

The Skillset

  • Is incredibly detail-oriented and exacting. Seriously. This role is for someone that can keep many moving parts moving towards a shared goal and consistently ensure all our bases are covered;
  • Is ready for a challenge – the projects that this person will touch are often dynamic – the demands on the team change on the fly. This person needs to be prepared and adaptable;
  • Has strong communication skills – on any given day you’ll be talking to multiple teams with different perspectives, goals, and styles – we need someone who can make the needs and requirements of the content team consistently heard;
  • Is a strong believer in the value of Original content – you bring to the table creative ideas of how we can further develop and diversify the program;
  • Is an ambitious problem solver, driven by delivering results;
  • Fluency in French or Dutch is a strong asset.
