Rakuten offers the opportunity to work for an industry leading, data driven startup environment where you’ll play a crucial role in fueling our growth agenda. As an integral member of the Corporate Development team you will work collaboratively across functions (including Legal, Finance, Marketing, Big Data, Supply Chain and HR) and companies (such as Ebates, Kobo, OverDrive, Rakuten Marketing, Viki, Rakuten Intelligence, Rakuten eCommerce, Curbside and Rakuten Super Logistics) to identify and evaluate acquisition opportunities. This team also enables the executive team to make sound strategic decisions through market insights, well thought out analysis and leveraging sound business acumen. You will develop an expert understanding of the market and leverage it to drive Rakuten’s growth agenda. The group reports into the regional Chief Financial Officer and the role can be highly visible to key leadership across the region. You’ll be joining a small, high performing team that takes a data driven approach to drive effective organizational decision making.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct market research and industry analysis in order to make recommendations on strategic planning
  • Conduct corporate level analysis on the business performance and provide suggestions to the executive team
  • Lead strategic projects when they arise.
  • Own the due diligence and valuation of on-going acquisition opportunities and support integration efforts
  • Manage the annual planning and forecasting process
  • Create tool to monitor KPI's for the services vertical and generate regular reports
  • Analyze various business processes throughout the company and implement improvements
  • Support and facilitate cross-functional strategic analysis and operational improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably with 1-3 years of experience
  • Master’s Degree in a business or financial area of study preferred.
  • Progression or completion towards a CFA or CPA designation
  • Demonstrated aptitude for analytics
  • Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively – both verbally and in writing
  • Strong financial modelling and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Up to 50% availability for domestic and international travel require
