The Rakuten Global Advertising Business is Rakuten’s global media sales house that offers unique access to real shoppers across its unrivaled media and e-commerce apps and sites. We are creating attractive, high performance audiences on Rakuten’s and our partners’ websites. We offer classic display, rich media, native, video and other ad formats that perform and deliver outstanding value to brands and merchants. We work with the world’s leading and most innovative advertisers to drive their business.

As an Analyst you will support the team responsible for acquiring new media inventory, strategically aligning media recruitment efforts with advertisers needs, and managing the relationship to internal and external media. You will work alongside our Inventory Development, Operations, Sales and Product teams. You will work with colleagues and partners in the USA, Europe and in Asia.

Key Responsibilities include:
• Analysis of data:

Undertake data extraction and processing to build reports, insights and draw conclusions, while making sure that all data is checked and correct.

• Aid in the building of commercial models:

Build initial models (incl. budgets) which incorporate key drivers for sales, providing a rationale for variables entered within the model and making recommendations for improvement.

• Assist in the production of presentations:

Ensure all information and presentation material is accurate and correct and helps to tell the story.

• Prepare and attend internal meetings:

Initiate and take responsibility for organizing meetings. Take an active role, record and circulate action points.

• Liaise with internal and external clients and partners:

Take responsibility for information and data collection, as well as client and partner correspondence.

• Support the development and implementation of industry leading advertising products.

You will be …

… working with Rakuten Group Company Ad Officers to:
• Collect high level requirements, needs and use cases
• Understand operational requirements
• Produce an opportunity heat map
• Understand the demographics, preferences and behavior of their audiences

• Understand customer acquisition costs and LTV of their audiences

• Understand the fundamentals of the properties’ performance

• Create a concise overview of the data and inventory assets

• Audit current monetization efforts, ad partner landscape and tech providers

… identifying new advertising opportunities:

• Identify opportunities to improve existing ad performance

• Identify opportunities to create incremental ad units and ad revenue streams

• Review (Advertiser & Agency) target audience & sales by channel (direct, agency, partner)

• Consolidate suppliers to improve reach and performance (reduce costs)

• Review potential products for existing B2B customers, through existing sales and service teams

Skills and qualifications:

• Proficient with Salesforce, Excel and PowerPoint

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (in business, mathematics or computer science being a plus)

• 1+ years of experience in the online media and advertising industries

• Strong analytical skills, ability to analyze raw data and draw conclusions

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including visualization techniques (e.g. with Tableau, DOMO, …)

• Self-motivated, independent, and high-performance individual, with ability to learn and become productive extremely fast

• Superb relationship building skills and ability to show value to clients

• Ability to travel up to 20% - 30% depending on project status
